Brushtail Possum

Skilled navigators of the overhead highways,  these little fellows thump across our roofs and can be heard making strange sounds in the early dark hours before daybreak.

The Common Brushtail Possum has a pointed face and pink nose, with long oval ears and bushy black tail. It is a nocturnal, semi-tree dwelling marsupial. An adult grows to the size of a domestic cat.

For many Australians these days, possums are not simply cute, furry creatures seen ambling across overhead wires and branches at dusk, but also a frustrating nuisance which has moved into our backyards, homes and sheds to eat our prized garden produce!

Possums are protected under the Wildlife Act.
